Fiscal policies aimed to support recovery, create jobs: Minister

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said Wednesday that fiscal policies next year would be aimed at supporting economic recovery and provide employment.

"Fiscal policies will be aimed at continuing stimulus ... whether in form of infrastructure spending, subsidies to maintain purchasing power, investment incentives like tax cuts," she said before investors in an investor forum in Jakarta.

The 2010 state budget allows the government to raise budget deficit by 0.4 percent to 2 percent to stimulate the economy.

The government estimated the economy to expand 5.5 percent in 2010, up from 4.3 percent predicted this year.
