Hospitals receive equipment for AIDS test

JAKARTA: The Jakarta AIDS Commission (KPA) handed over two devices, known as CD4 counting machines, to Koja Hospital in North Jakarta, and Soekanto Police Hospital in East Jakarta, on Tuesday.
The devices will be used to test for the HIV virus. It counts the number of CD4 T-cells, which are part of the body's immune system. People living with AIDS have a CD4 T-cell count (number of cells in the blood) of below 200 cells/microliter.
Assistant to the city governor, Margani Mustar, presented the devices to representatives from the two hospitals in commemoration of World AIDS Day at Tanjung Priok community health center in North Jakarta. - JP
