The controversial rescue of Bank Century and other political issues will head the agenda of the Democratic Party’s national executive meeting underway in Jakarta.
The party’s chairman, Hadi Utomo, said Saturday the meeting would also evaluate the performance of the party and its preparations for the regional elections next year.
Around 280 party members representing the party’s central board of executives, regional chapters, affiliated organizations and board of patrons, are participating in the annual meeting.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, as the party’s chief patron, will address the national meeting on the final day of the event on Sunday.
Hadi dismissed alleged links between the party and the scandalous bailout of Bank Century.
“We have repeatedly clarified that the party has nothing to do with the case and we will explain this to all party regional representatives.
“The rumor has discredited the party, therefore we will report it to the police,” Hadi told kompas.com.
