State-owned fertilizer company PT Petrokimia Gresik has posted Rp 1.18 trillion (US$125 million) in profit as of November 2009 from sales totaling Rp 14.2 trillion.
"Our profit this year will surpass last year's mark of Rp 783.1 billion," the company’s president director, Arifin Tasrif, told Antara on Saturday.
The profit increase was driven by the company's development efforts, including the operation of NPK Phonska III fertilizer plant which produces up to 600,000 tons of fertilizer a year.
The company's first and second phosphate plants meanwhile produce 500,000 tons a year to help boost fertilizer supply.
He said the company’s fertilizer production from Phonska I, II, III plants and NPK I,II and III plants reached 2.2 million tons a year, equaling the target of national supply for 2010.
The company expects the second-phase development project which will start in 2010 will increase fertilizer production to 5.1 million tons a year.
