Police officers beat Saturday night a University of Indonesia lecturer in Depok, West Java, assuming he was a criminal.
"I took a train from Tebet to Depok last night and stopped at Pondok China station. When I walked in front of the Detos mall, four people blocked me and beat me," victim JJ Rizal told kompas.com on Sunday.
Rizal said one of the four men later showed his police identity card and they brought him to Beji Police office. He was released on false arrest.
Rizal gained facial bruises from the beating. He said he will sue the four policemen.
