City to move 24 homes from Situ Gintung area

SOUTH TANGERANG: The South Tangerang regency administration will relocate 24 homes from around the Situ Gintung reservoir.

The move is part of efforts to restore the reservoir, after an incident in March in which an embankment burst, killing 100 people.

South Tangerang municipal secretary Ahadi said recently as quoted by tempointeraktif.com that land clearance would be handled by the central government through the Ciliwung-Cisadane Management Board.

The government has allocated Rp 7 million from the 2009 state budget and an extra Rp 5 billion from the 2010 state budget for the clearance project. -JP
