Prita to present new evidence in appeal

JAKARTA: The defense team for Prita Mulyasari, 32, the housewife on trial for defaming Omni International Hospital, will submit new evidence for its appeal to the Supreme Court.

The move follows the Banten High Court's ruling for Prita to pay Rp 204 million in compensation to the hospital.

"We'll append the new evidence in the dossier for our appeal," lawyer Slamet Yuwono said Sunday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

The new evidence includes pictures of Prita while she was being treated at the hospital.

"The pictures show her condition was deteriorating during her treatment at Omni," Slamet said.

He added Prita would in her appeal demand Rp 113 million in compensation for losses incurred during her stay in Omni, and another Rp 1 trillion in damages. -JP
