Riau Islands governor unclear on suspect status

Riau Islands Governor Ismed Abdullah expressed confusion at
being named a graft suspect, claiming the Corruption Eradication Commission
(KPK) was inconsistent in labeling him a suspect.
Riau Islands provincial administration spokesman Irmansyah
said Tuesday the KPK had issued contradictory statements regarding the governor’s
status.
"On Nov. 21, KPK deputy Ade Raharja declared Ismed a
suspect. The following day, a KPK spokesman denied that Ismed had been named a
suspect. Now he has again been named a suspect. The KPK’s statements are
incongruous," he said.
Ismed has not yet received an official letter from the KPK informing
him of his status.
