The current wiretapping bill is an effort to weaken the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), an anti-corruption activist says.
"We reject the bill," the Anti-Corruption Civil Society Coalition (Kompak) coordinator Fadjroel Rahman said, as quoted by Kompas.com.
The bill requires the KPK to get consent from court before tapping someone.
"Such a requirement will make KPK unable to carry out its investigation," Fadjroel said. "KPK wiretapping plans would always be leaked to the target."
