Govt claims to prevent higher state losses this year

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said Thursday the government had prevented potential state losses of Rp 597.8 billion (US$635,900) from January to November this year, up from last year's figure of Rp 253.94 billion.

Sri Mulyani made the statement during the destruction of illegal alcoholic drinks at Tanjung Priok port.

She also said violations in 2008, which reached 2,100, were slightly higher than this year's cases of 2,093.
