No indications yet of graft in Century scandal: KPK

A- A A+

JAKARTA: Looking at the Supreme Audit Agency's (BPK) report, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has not found any evidence of corruption in the controversial Rp 6.76 trillion (US$716 million) bailout of Bank Century.

"So far we have not found any indications of corruption," Haryono told news portal kompas.com on Wednesday, adding all nine findings submitted by the BPK were mostly related to banking violations.

However, if the audit hinted at practices of corruption, the KPK wouldn't have the authority to investigate the case.

He said the KPK would only focus on alleged corruption in the issuing of the bailout funds to third parties and the money flow.

The BPK has been asked to clarify its audit next Friday. "We are analyzing the report and would like the BPK's involvement," Haryono said. - JP
