5.9-magnitude quake jolts Aceh

JAKARTA: A magnitude 5.9 earthquake shook Aceh at 4:28 a.m. local time Thursday. No injuries or damage were reported.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, which did not issue a tsunami alert, said the epicenter of the quake was located 90 kilometers northwest of Sinabang, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

A number of moderate quakes have recently rocked the province, which was worst hit during the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. - JP
