SEMARANG: Starting next year the Police Academy (Akpol) will only recruit senior high school graduates as new cadets, National Police chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri said Thursday.
Speaking at the academy in Semarang, Central Java, he said new cadets would have to pass a selection process at the academy.
University graduates will be accepted at PPSS, a separate academy for higher ranking officers.
"We are trying to separate the recruitment of cadets from senior high school and university to tackle learning and adaptation hurdles in the academy," Bambang said.
He said the change was needed to reform bureaucracy in the police force. - JP
