Letter: These female scapegoats?

With reference to the Bank Century case and the front page article in The Jakarta Post titled "Dems, Golkar reach deal over Century inquiry," (The Jakarta Post, Dec. 4), I am quite surprised that the Democratic Party and the Golkar Party have reached a deal and it has been said openly that the President and Vice President will not be touched.
Does that mean even if they are involved they will not be touched? Is there a different law for them? I think Sri Mulyani is the scapegoat in this. She is a woman of whom her male colleagues are jealous; they cannot stand the force of her talent or, say, her boldness and these are the reasons they want to bring her down.
In fact, she is a courageous woman and should have been the president or should run for the post of president. If she is harmed in this case, then it will prove that Indonesia still does not believe in the equality of women and men and is trying to deprive women, as the Taliban has done.
Take for example the case of Prita Mulyasari or the case of a 51-year-old lady, Minah, who stole three cocoa pods. In these cases, they have tried to frame the women. Recently, I read an article about a hospital where the person mentioned the name of the hospital in which his wife was not treated as per the standard procedure for delivering a baby. But why has the hospital not confronted or sued that person who mentioned the hospital's name? Why is only Prita being sued?
It all proves that women are still being pushed and kept down, whether she be a political women or a housewife.
Please also refer to the article in the Post on Nov. 28, on page 4 where it was clearly mentioned and discussed that there would be no one from the Democratic Party on the inquiry committee for Bank Century but, to everyone's surprise, it has turned out to be in the majority?
What a contradiction. Is it that all political issues and news are just lies and people forget very fast?
