Crime rate on the rise in Jambi

JAMBI CITY, Jambi: The crime rate in Jambi province is relatively high this year.

The Jambi Police have recorded 1,953 criminal cases from January to November this year, with theft dominating the total number.

The Jambi Police have handled 632 of the cases as of November, 350 cases, or 55.3 percent of which have been resolved, while they have resolved 103 of the 153 armed robbery cases. Auto theft was also on the rise, with 407 cases, which were dominated by motorcycle thefts taking place daily in Jambi city and other regencies.

Jambi Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Almansyah said police had made efforts to curb the crime rate. "We conduct patrols in crime-prone areas continuously," he said. -JP
