KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: The office of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) in East Nusa Tenggara said Saturday that local Muslims were ready to help safeguard Christmas festivities in the Christian-majority province.
“We’re ready to give support for our Christian brothers by securing the Christmas holiday in Kupang,” provincial MUI deputy chairman Jamaludin Ahmad said as quoted by Antara.
He added the MUI would coordinate with Muslim youth organizations, including the Mosque Youth, GP Anshor (a movement affiliated to Indonesia’s largest Muslim organization, Nahdlatul Ulama) and the Islamic Students Association (HMI), in the plan.
