JAKARTA: The city's Disaster Mitigation and Firefighting Agency proposed a premium of accident insurance worth Rp 5 billion for all 3,000 officers at the agency.

Agency head Paimin Napitupulu said the agency's proposal was approved by the City Council in the 2010 budget.

"The insurance for the fire-fighting officers is included in Jamsostek *workers safety net*," he told vivanews.com.

Paimin said during the last three years, six officers died while 61 other were injured on duty. They were not protected by insurance and only got a donation from the city.
