JAKARTA: The management of the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta will apply a numeric system for people who want to go to the top of the popular landmark next year.
Monas management unit director Rini Hariyani said that under the numbering system, there would only be five groups of 50 people each waiting in line to go to the top of the monument.
“We’ll give each visitor a numbered card, just like at bank tellers,” she said Tuesday.
“After a group enters the elevator, we’ll announce the next 10 numbers over the loudspeaker.”
She added the system was aimed at giving visitors time to see the other facilities, such as the museum, without worrying about losing their place in the line.
She said the system would be ready in time for the school vacations in June.
As of September this year, the management has begun separating the ticket booths between the museum and the top of the monument, to make visitors aware of the length of the line to go to the top of Monas.
Tickets for the museum are available at the underground level, while tickets to the top of the monument are available near the entrance to the elevator.
