KUTA: Two hundred local taxi drivers launched a protest at the provincial administration office for approving a national taxi company's request to operate 100 new cabs in Bali.,

Ida Bagus Badra, a representative for the demonstrators, said the new fleet's operations would negatively impact local drivers, who were already facing difficulties picking up fares. There are currently 2,282 registered taxis operating in Bali.
"We resent the addition of another fleet. As it is, the supply of taxis far outstrips the demand for them," he said. - JP
