Chevron fights HIV/AIDS through partnerships

Chevron has said that it engages in fighting HIV/AIDS through partnerships, prevention and quality care. Chevron said in a statement that it actively collaborates with local and national governments as well as NGOs to organize and participate in HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness campaigns for surrounding communities throughout its operations in Riau, East Kalimantan, West Java and Jakarta.
"In 2005, Chevron formally launched a companywide Global HIV/AIDS policy, titled Policy 260 HIV/AIDS in providing a consistent corporate-wide approach, tailored to the needs and resources of each community," the company says.
The company said that in 2007, Chevron joined the Indonesian Business Coalition on AIDS (IBCA) as a founding member, to fight the spread of HIV/AIDS, starting in its own workplace. - JP
