National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has asked the Banten provincial administration to help it meet its manpower demand, following a plan to expand its fleet from 60 to 114 over the next four years.
Garuda business support official Boedi Soeharto said the company needed 1,000 more flight attendants as a consequence of its expansion plan.
"We’ll have to recruit as many as 1,000 people to work as flight attendants and therefore we hope the Banten administration can help us," he said after a meeting with Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiah in the provincial capital Serang on Thursday.
Ratu Atut said the provincial administration was willing to help out.
"Garuda requires workers with good skills such as English proficiency, not just good physical appearance," she said.
