JAKARTA: Indonesia's largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama is organizing the International Conference of Islamic Scholars (ICIS) in Jakarta on Friday and Saturday.
More than 100 Islamic clerics from 13 countries including Iran, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iraq, Palestine, Jordan, Malaysia and Thailand, will attend the conference held with the theme upholding solidarity and unity in Islam.
Nahdlatul Ulama's chairman Hasyim Muzadi said Wednesday most countries had internal ideological conflicts such as Syiah and Sunni in Iraq, and Hamas and Fatah in Palestine.
"We would like to create a united ideology for Muslims," he said. - JP
