Law enforcement agencies delay meeting on Century case

The country’s law enforcement institutions failed on Thursday to discuss Bank Century case due to the tight schedules of their leaders.
Ade Rahardja, deputy director of prosecution at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), said his office, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office (AGO) had agreed to reschedule their meeting to immediate future.
He said the meeting was slated to start at 5 p.m. Thursday, but Attorney General Hendarman Supandji and Police Chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri did not turn up due to another commitment.
Some AGO officials, such as Assistant Attorney General for Special Crimes Marwan Effendy, arrived at the KPK building only at 7:30 p.m.
They were speechless when they left the KPK building later, kompas.com reported.
The case centers on the government’s decision to inject Rp 6.7 trillion (US$ 710 billion) into ailing Bank Century bank last year. The Supreme Audit Agency said in its examination the decision had no legal grounds. (ewd)
