Rear Adm. Marsetio to control Western Fleet

JAKARTA: Rear Adm. Marsetio has been officially promoted to lead the Navy's Western Fleet (Koarmabar) replacing Rear Adm. Soeparno.

The job transfer was conducted at a military ceremony at the Western Fleet headquarters in the presence of Navy Chief-of-Staff Vice Admiral TNI Suhartono on Wednesday.

Marsetio, a graduate of the Naval Academy in 1981 with his first assignment as KRI Fatahillah warship navigation officer, developed his military career as communications officer of the Nala warship in 1984 and then completed assignments with several other warships until 1991.

The Asia Pacific Strategic Studies 2007 graduate served as Navy Combat Force Eastern Fleet Command chief-of-staff in 2004. - JP
