RI assured of gold in men's badminton singles

VIENTIANE: The Indonesian badminton team is assured of winning another gold after the conclusion of the semifinals at the Main Sports Complex in Vientiane on Wednesday.

Sony Dwi Kuncoro will meet Simon Santoso in the men's singles final on Thursday.

World No. 7 Sony was stretched to three sets in his 21-10, 18-21, 21-17 win over Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk of Thailand, while Simon booked an easier 21-7, 21-14 win over Nguyen Hoang Hai of Vietnam.

Indonesia also has chances at gold in the men's doubles and mixed doubles. - JP
