JAKARTA: The Jakarta Police's internal affairs unit will hold a disciplinary hearing next week in the case of a Koja Police officer who allegedly shot a 15-year-old boy for no apparent reason, an officer said Wednesday.

Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar said the former Koja Police chief and chief detective would also be questioned.

"Although they didn't witness the shooting, we will question them in their capacity as superiors *of the officer in question*," he said.

M. Rifki underwent surgery Tuesday to remove a bullet from his right leg after being shot by the unidentified officer three months ago.

Rifki claimed the officer had arrested him following a fight between Rifki and a relative of the officer's, who sustained a bruise to the head.

He said the officer then took him to an area in Sunter, North Jakarta, and told him to get out of the car and run. Rifki said the officer then shot him and placed him in detention on the pretext Rifki had resisted arrest.

The existing police code states officers may only open fire in self-defense. - JP
