SERANG: The 85 members of the Banten Legislative Council have been given a total Rp 1.9 billion from the provincial budget for their recess between Dec. 22 and 31.
Council secretary Ubaidillah said Monday each legislator would get Rp 20.4 million, while their assistants would get the rest.
He added this was the third recess of the year, and was called Monday at a plenary meeting led by council Speaker Aeng Haerudin.
Ubaidillah said the councilors would spend the money on transportation, renting meeting halls, and food and beverages.
He defended the budget allocation as being in line with a 2009 gubernatorial regulation. - JP
