DENPASAR: Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika conferred awards Tuesday to women’s rights activists Nyoman Masni and Luh Rupiadi for their “extraordinary achievements in promoting women’s roles and protecting the rights of women and children in the male-dominated Balinese society”.
Pastika named the two “Bali Women’s Figures in 2009” during an event to mark Mothers’ Day. At the ceremony held at Puputan Margarana Square, the governor said the awards were in recognition of their continued efforts to improve the lives of women and children in Bali.
