Comments: 'Statelessness and human rights'

A- A A+

Dec. 14, p. 6

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights proclaimed in Article 14 that everyone has the right to seek and enjoy another country’s asylum from persecution. In Article 15, it declared that everyone has the right to a nationality and no one should be arbitrarily deprived of their nationality, or denied the right to change it. (By Jennie S. Bev, San Francisco)

Your comments:

The article is good, but why should it always refer to the United States? There are stateless people as well, who came to United States to make their life better but have no means of gaining legal support.

Some of those who came were probably had no “well-founded fear” due to political or religious matters ... but they do have well-founded fears for economic reasons. Will these economic reasons be taken into consideration? In the US? In Indonesia?

The first thing you have to understand is that to enter this country is a privilege, it is not a right. No illegal immigrant has a right to be here. The second thing one has to understand is that illegal people are destroying this country, and you would have to have very poor eyesight not to see this. Illegal immigrants have made America the dumping ground for all their illegal children, then we have to school them and give them free medical care.

I, for one, am sick and tired of these illegal immigrants snubbing their nose at our immigration laws and the many other laws of this country. If our federal government cannot enforce our immigration laws, and get these illegal aliens out of this country, then let the state do it!

One way or another, an end has to come to this illegal immigration, and not with an amnesty!

Amnesty will only encourage more illegal aliens to invade our country and reward those who broke our laws and raped the American taxpayer in many ways, depressing our wages, taking our jobs, overwhelming our schools with their children, driving without a license or car insurance, all the crime, from stolen identities to rape, drugs and everything else.
