Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto said Wednesday he had agreed to the Jakarta administration's plan to build six new turnpikes in the capital city to help reduce traffic jam.
"I have told Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo that he can build six turnpikes," Djoko said as quoted by TVOne.
However, he added, a tender must be held to select contractors to build the turnpikes.
TVOne reported that the Jakarta administration wanted to appoint a local government-owned company to construct the turnpikes.
