Rabies epidemic claims one more victim

DENPASAR:  Gianyar resident Komang Sri Mutiari, 32, died of rabies Monday at Sanglah General Hospital in Denpasar, bringing the death toll from the disease to 26.

Mutiari, from Batubulan in Gianyar, was bitten by a dog three months ago, said Dr. Raka Dewi, but did not receive an anti-rabies shot.

“Her family didn’t understand that she was supposed to get the shot immediately,” she said.
Mutiari died within 24 hours of arriving at the hospital.
