TANGERANG: Escorted by the police and a troop from the Indonesian Military, Tangerang regency’s public order officers shut down illegal sand mines at several locations in Panongan and Jambe districts in the western part of the regency on Tuesday.

“We forced them to close the mining sites because they had not obtained permits for the mining from the administration,” said Tholib Effendi, deputy head of the public order agency.

He added that some minings were not closed but only given warnings.
