JAKARTA: Civil servants in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) are required to wear traditional batik every Thursday starting January, as an effort to preserve the traditional heritage, Antara reported Friday.
West Nusa Tenggara administration spokesman Andy Hadianto said the governor issued a memo requiring civil servants in the province to wear batik.
Andy said the requirement to wear batik was part of the administration's efforts to preserve batik, which has been added to the world heritage list. - JP
