Windy, 8, Rizky, 4, Lina, 3 and Siti, 5 months, were left by their parents at a rented house in Depok, West Java, for a week without any food, prompting their neighbors to take care of them, Tempointeraktif.com reported on Sunday.

After one week, the neighbors then sent the four children to Fathul Khoir orphanage. Their mother, Yanti, went to see her children at the orphanage on Saturday night and then returned to her rented house, but people in their neighborhood sent her to the police.

Depok police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Saidal Mursalin told Tempointeraktif.com on Sunday that the police questioned Yanti to know what's wrong with the family that left the children unattended for a week.

But Saidal said that the police had not yet charged Yanti, saying that the police would still look for the father to determine who's the most responsible in leaving their children unattended.

"We are still looking for the father at PAL area. We were told that the father work as pedicab driver there," Saidal said.
