Braga Festival kicks off

BANDUNG: Bandung Mayor Dada Rosada on Sunday opened the Braga Festival featuring traditional performances, exhibitions and products for sale along the famous Jl. Braga in Bandung, West Java.

Antara news agency reported 93 stands had been set up along the street, selling various products, including food, garments and traditional handicrafts.

A performance stage has been built at one end of the street, which will be closed to vehicle traffic until New Year's Eve. Various traditional performances will be staged, as well as concerts. Apart from Jl. Braga, the festival's contemporary music performances will also be staged at the Asia Africa Cultural Center.

Thousands of people descended on Jl. Braga soon after the official festival kick-off, Antara reported.

"For me, the festival has no defined theme. It's like a food festival because there are more food stalls here," Nuriska, a visitor, told Antara news agency. - JP
