Demography data in South Tangerang still poor

Jakarta: Due to the absence of information to verify demography data in South Tangerang municipality, it's easy for residents to obtain two ID cards for between Rp 150,000 (US$15) and 200,000.

Ahadi, an assistant at the South Tangerang administration admitted that some residents had two ID cards from different regions.

"Resident should have one ID card only. If this practice continues we are afraid that irresponsible parties will use this opportunity for crime," he said.

He said to cope with the problem, the administration would produce ID cards by using an online demography administration system. - JP
