Jusuf Manggabarani named police deputy chief

The National Police has appointed Gen. Jusuf Manggabarani as its new deputy chief to replace Comr. Gen. Makbul Padmanegara who will enter retirement.

Ins. Gen. Edi Sunarno, the National Police deputy for human resources, told kompas.com on Wednesday the office had chosen Jusuf as he had experience, including as the chief of the South Sulawesi regional police.

Edi denied that former detective chief Snr. Comr. Susno Duadji had been enlisted as an candidate for the second-highest position at the police.

Beside the deputy chief position, the police office also announced some changes in other divisions.

Ins. Gen. Nanan Soekarna, for instance, now holds the position as the inspector of general supervision while Brig. Gen. Edward Aritonang replaces Nanan's previous position as spokesperson. (ewd)
