New Year firecrackers injure six in Denpasar

At least six people have been admitted to Sanglah Hospital due to burn injuries after firecracker explosions during New Year celebrations in the Bali capital of Denpasar.

On-duty emergency care unit officer Ketut Gede Arta Bujangga told Antara on Friday the six patients were among 62 people who underwent minor and major surgeries between 7 p.m. on Thursday and 7 a.m. on Friday.

The care unit also operated on 10 people who suffered from dog bites, and delivered five babies.

Spokesman for the hospital IGNA Putra Wibawa said the hospital assigned 170 doctors and paramedics to provide healthcare to incoming patients on the year’s turn.
