The crisis year of 2009 has passed. And come the year of 2010, hopes prevail that things will get better.
While last year's crisis made many things shrink, creativity was not bounded by the world conditions. And we expect 2010 will see an improvement.
As for Indonesian music, the year of 2009 was closed with a remarkable achievement. Of the 10 categories in the Junksounds Awards 2009 (an award made by Junk online music magazine), Indonesia swept all but one.
It was Bandung-based college rocker band The SIGIT that brought home three categories: Album/EP of the year, best live act and best pop/indie rock act. The band has showed that you can be smart enough to rock.
Meanwhile, acoustic duo Endah N Rhesa and indie rock act Monkey to Millionaire proved that Indonesia has many potential talents on the rise.
Since we published our first story on Aug. 2, 2009, with 14 stories to follow that year, we have seen many good acts and bad acts. But we're optimistic we'll see more good acts this year.
We're not just writing about bands. Record stores, music authors, awards and gigs, in fact, anything interesting related to music will capture our attention.
We're always on the lookout for good music. But we also want you to write to us because the more eyes and ears we have the easier we can spread good news about our music. Or just a simple "hello" will cheer us up.

And as we said earlier, 2010 may see an improvement. We know that prominent promoter Adrie Subono is trying to bring the best world acts. Tell him which bands you want to see at http://twitter.com/adriesubono.
Also, as we know that more good bands seem to prefer to come to Singapore than here. There will be the MOSAIC Music Festival 2010 in March. Acoustic duo Kings Of Convenience (KOC), legendary alt-rock band Dinosaur Jr. and folk singer Vashti Bunyan will play there. So save your money to see them live.
Those who love KOC need not be disappointed as they're scheduled to play here after Singapore. We'll update you. Cheers.
