Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) has demanded the Corruption Eradication Commission
(KPK) declare Anggodo Widjojo a corruption suspect within the next two weeks.
ICW researcher Febri Diansyah said Sunday that a wiretap recording and Ary Muladi’s testimony against Anggodo were enough grounds to make him a suspect.
“There is no reason not to arrest Anggodo,” he was quoted as saying by news portal kompas.com.
Anggodo, the brother of fugitive corruption suspect Anggoro Widjojo, allegedly played the main role in an attempt to frame two KPK deputies, Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah, for abuse of power, bribery and the extortion of Anggoro.
Anggodo’s alleged role was detailed in wiretapped recordings of telephone conversations between himself, middlemen and several senior officials from the National Police and the Attorney General’s Office. In the conversations, Anggodo allegedly orchestrated the roles to be played by police, prosecutors and witnesses so the deputies would be convincingly incriminated.
“We fear this case has been obstructed by KPK officials, many of whom are from the police and the AGO,” ICW member Emerson Yuntho had said earlier.
Emerson urged KPK investigations director Suaedy Husein to immediately name Aggodo a suspect.
“Otherwise, he would be better off resigning to prove his accountability,” he said.
“We will also file a lawsuit against the KPK if it does not take any action in this case within two weeks.”
Emerson said he suspected the director, a police officer, had a conflict of interest in this case, because it could implicate several of his colleagues and superiors, including former National Police chief detective Comr. Gen. Susno Duadji.
In the wiretapped conversations, Susno was mentioned several times by Anggodo and those he spoke
to, implying that Susno also played a role in the attempt to frame the deputies.
