JAKARTA: Indonesian Air Force chief of staff Marshal Imam Sufaat called Monday for zero accidents in 2010 and announced his aims to make the Air Force world-class in the long term.
“Setting these targets has its risks and therefore the Air Force has to be brave and committed to hard work to achieve the targets,” Imam said in a media statement sent to The Jakarta Post.
Imam was addressing a special roll call starting the New Year at the Indonesian Air Force headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta.
He also outlined three strategic steps to reach the Zero Accident Road Map including, strengthening leadership and management especially at operational units and maintaining flight and occupational safety.
“The Air Force has a limited budget that could affect planning, actuating, controlling and monitoring aspects of its development activities,” Imam said.
“However, the Air Force has to be optimistic as our budget is only a small part of a successful mission.
The quality of human resources is more dominant in determining the success of a mission.”
