Comments: Appeal against Prita's acquittal

A- A A+

The Tangerang Prosecutors' Office will appeal Tuesday's acquittal by the Tangerang District Court of Prita Mulyasari, who had been charged with defaming Omni International Hospital.

Attorney General's Office spokesman Didiek Darmanto confirmed the planned appeal, as reported by Antara.

The district court had acquitted Prita of all charges in the case. She was found not guilty of libel against the hospital after emailing a complaint about the latter's poor service to several friends.

Prosecutors had previously demanded the housewife and mother of two serve six months in jail under the contentious article on defamation in the 2008 Electronic Information and Transactions Law.

This is a justice system gone berserk!

Can somebody tell the Tangerang Prosecutors' Office to back the hell off?!

This is madness!! Have these prosecutors nothing better to do?

When will they learn that it is time to just sit down, shut up and get on with doing some real work and stop wasting the taxpayers' money?
