TANGERANG: Prosecutors trying the high-profile murder of businessman Nasruddin Zulkarnaen filed an appeal with the Banten High Court on Monday.

The appeal is in response to last week’s conviction and sentencing of five hit men to between 17 and 18 years in prison.

“We decided to appeal because we feel the sentences were too lenient,” said Tangerang chief prosecutor Suyono as quoted by tempointeraktif.com, adding the perpetrators should have received 20 years.

Nasruddin was killed din a drive-by shooting by gunman Daniel Daen Sabon, 25, who was riding pillion on a motorbike.

He was sentenced to 18 years, with the judges citing his age as a mitigating factor.

The four others involved in the drive-by were given 17 years.
