House of Representatives Speaker Marzuki Alie said Thursday a proposal to grant the late former Indonesian president Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid hero status would be discussed later in the day.
He said the proposal had been submitted by the National Awakening Party (PKB), the United Development Party (PPP), and the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).
However, Marzuki said, a plenary session would be needed to approve the proposal.
The PKB is the Islamic-based party founded by Gus Dur.
