PT KAI Commuter Jabotabek (KCJ), a subsidiary of state railway PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), is optimistic about gaining Rp 428 billion (US$46.3 million) in revenue this year, a 27 percent increase from the revenue estimated in 2009.
“This year the company will aim for revenue of Rp 400 billion from passengers and Rp 28 billion from station activities,” KCJ president director Bambang Wibiyanto said at the office of the State SOE Ministry in Jakarta on Thursday.
Bambang also expected his company's net profit would rise to Rp 25 billion this year from Rp 9 billion in 2009.
Last year, the company predicted to gain Rp 312 billion in revenue, about Rp 300 billion from passenger ticket sales and the rest from station activity.
In order to meet the target, the KCJ has planned to import 120 used-cars in 2010 and 2011.
“Those cars will be equipped with air-conditioning and imported from Japan. We have allocated Rp 105 billion to purchase those cars,” Bambang said, adding the cars were manufactured between 1978 and 1980.
For 2010, the company will buy about 40 cars, he said.
The KCJ serves routes across Greater Jakarta, including tracks linking the city’s main stations to Serpong, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi.
