SBY to review coalition agreements, performance

JAKARTA: The current heated political climate has forced President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to consider reviewing his coalition treaty with a number of political parties ran alongside the Democratic Party during his bid for presidency.

Speaking at the inauguration of three deputy ministers and the new Cabinet secretary, at the State Palace on Wednesday, Yudhoyono also hinted at evaluating the performance of his Cabinet ministers.

"We signed performance contracts and integrity pacts as well as a coalition agreement. I will conduct an evaluation of all of these," he said.

Despite the unfavorable post-election political climate, Yudhoyono asked all the ministers to remain focused on their work.

"The government is concentrating on programs for its first 100 days in office, although this cannot be used to measure our performance," Yudhoyono added.

Yudhoyono's Cabinet largely comprises politicians representing pro-government parties, but the coalition looks fragile in the House of Representatives as evident in the inquiry into Bank Century bailout. - JP
