Susno denies persuading Williardi to make false testimony against Antasari

Former National Police's detective chief Comr. Gen. Susno Duadji claimed Thursday he had never ordered Sr. Comr. Williardi Wizar, who is currently on trial for allegedly involved in the murder of businessman Nasrudin Zulkarnaen, to make a false dossier which could nail former antigraft leader Antasari Azhar as main suspect.

Susno admitted that he had invited Williardi, former South Jakarta Police chief, to meet him after the latter was arrested. The meeting, however, was his personal initiative to discuss the future of Williardi related to the murder case.

"I only reminded him that he was the only one who knows his own mistakes," Susno said in a hearing at South Jakarta District Court.

"His status as a police officer would depend on his mistakes and the length of the sentence."

Susno said he had never asked Williardi to revise his dossier and putting a new testimony that Antasari had ordered him to kill Nasrudin.

"I never knew about his testimony," he said, adding that it was his deputy, Insp. Gen. Hadiatmoko, who had been instructed by the National Police Chief to supervise the investigation of the case.

Antasari, former Eradication Corruption Commission (KPK) chief, is currently on trial fol allegedly masterminding the murder of Nasrudin, with help from Williardi, who allegedly recruited the hit men, and businessman Sigid Haryo Wibisono, who provided the funding.

Antasari's defense lawyers surprisingly brought Susno into the courtroom as their last witness.

Prior to the hearing, the lawyers only said they would bring a "legal expert" as their last witness.
