Yellow box to ease traffic this year, Police say

JAKARTA: Jakarta Police is planning to add a new road sign, called the Yellow Box Junction, to help ease Jakarta's traffic problems.

The yellow box junctions will be placed at intersections that are notoriously congested, such as the intersection near the Sarinah building on Jl. Thamrin, Second Brig. Ali, an operator at the police's traffic management center, said Thursday, as quoted by vivanews.com.

If the traffic light is green, the yellow box will prevent vehicles from moving into the intersection while another vehicle is still on the box. Drivers that enter yellow box intersections illegally will be fined. - JP
