Jakarta: The Indonesian Soccer Federation (PSSI) says the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) could fine them following several incidents during the 2011 Asian Cup pre-qualifying match between Indonesia and Oman on Wednesday.
"It depends on the match inspector's report that will be discussed at the AFC meeting," PSSI secretary-general Nugraha Besoes told Antara news agency on Thursday.
Besoes said there were three incidents that could lead to the AFC imposing fines on the PSSI, including a fan running onto the pitch minutes before the match ended, the use of firecrackers by supporters and the throwing of projectiles onto the pitch.
During Wednesday's match, which Oman won 2-1, some supporters chose to vent their frustration by jeering and throwing projectiles on the pitch, while a supporter, later identified as Hendry Mulyadi, charged across the pitch, nicked the ball off an Oman player, and made for Al-Habsi's goal.
Hendry could only manage a weak attempt into the legs of the Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper before several security officers pounced on him. He was arrested and questioned by police but was later released.
The AFC has previously fined the PSSI US$10,000 for an incident in match between Indonesia and Kuwait. - JP
