PALEMBANG: Relatives of an Indonesian migrant work who died in Malaysia have criticized the poor handling of the body.

The female worker from Palembang, Rusnawati, died on Dec. 31, but her relatives only received her body on Thursday.

"The family is upset at the late return of her body," Ruhul, the deceased's brother, said Friday.

Ruhul said Rusnawati reportedly died of an unspecified illness.

"We are unsure of the cause of the death because Rusnawati had never complained of being sick."

Rusnawati is survived by a husband and four children. She was buried on Friday.

South Sumatra Migrant Worker Deployment and Protection Agency official Salawi said his agency had not received any documents pertaining to the death.

"The documents are important for us to help the family with issues such as insurance claims," he said. - JP
